Stars is awesome for trading out the temp hp for more utility or damage. Spores is melee focused to some degree but can also just function as a bunch of extra hit points while you're casting. Land gets more spells and spell recovery but lacks flavor.ĭreams is a fine healer but has a bit of a dud lvl 6. Also with new summon spells like summon beast and fey, your lonely druid girl can have a reliable friend to help in combat all day! You buff teammates and summons so even if you choose to not summon anything your party still gets benefits. The table may not like having a bunch of summons out as it can slow down the fight but it can also be used for utility, as in summoning a bunch of flying eagles to carry you fast away from danger or a pack of wolves to distract enemies while your party stealths into a camp etc. These features extend to summons as well, so using spells like conjure animals or woodland beings is optimal on this subclass. Shepherd druid is my personal favorite as it allows for a LOT of utility via support features. Elemental wildshape are also nifty and very strong. You can also get better animals for utility too like bigger birds to carry friends into advantageous positions, etc.
If they engage on you then you have a big pool of hp to soak up attacks with and cool melee mechanics as an animal. If the enemy is far away then just stay as a humanoid for now. You are not limited to always being a beast by any means. Moon druid can do all the spellcasting a normal druid can do but also turn into beasts of a higher level when they want.
